Privacy Policy

Sukan ('we', 'our', or 'us') operates the Sukan platform, accessible at sukansd.com and associated mobile applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information about users of our service — tenants, landlords, agents, and diaspora investors. By using Sukan, you agree to the practices described in this document. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the platform.

We collect information you provide directly: account registration data (email address, full name, phone number, and chosen password hash), listing content (property descriptions, photos, location coordinates, and pricing), and inquiry messages sent through the platform. We also collect data generated through your use of the service: browsing behaviour, search queries, pages visited, time on page, and device identifiers. When you contact a landlord via WhatsApp through a Sukan-generated link, we record that an inquiry was initiated — but we do not access the content of your WhatsApp conversation. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies as described in the Cookies section below.

We use your information to operate and improve the platform: to publish and index listings, to route inquiry messages to the correct landlord, to personalise search results, and to send transactional communications (listing confirmation, inquiry notification, payment receipt). We may use aggregated, anonymised usage data for internal analytics and product development. We will not use your personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without your explicit consent.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances: (1) When a tenant submits an inquiry, the landlord receives the tenant's name, phone number, and message. (2) We engage service providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements — this includes cloud hosting (Supabase/AWS), payment processing (Stripe), and email delivery (Resend). (3) We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority with lawful jurisdiction. (4) In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred to the successor entity, with advance notice provided to affected users.

Your data is stored on servers located in the EU (AWS eu-central-1 region). We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal profile and listings within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations requiring longer retention (for example, payment records which may be retained for up to seven years for tax compliance). Anonymised, aggregated data derived from your usage is retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request corrections, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. You may also object to certain processing activities or request that we restrict processing while a complaint is under review. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@sukansd.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe your rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the applicable data protection authority.

Sukan uses strictly necessary session cookies to maintain your logged-in state, and optional analytics cookies (via Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first provider that does not fingerprint users or share data with advertisers) to understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable optional cookies through your browser settings at any time without affecting core platform functionality.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) and by posting a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Sukan after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
